Large fire at Derbyshire vitamin factory

A factory blaze in Derbyshire was attended by six fire crews this morning.

The fire was at DSM Nutritional Products, off Delves Road, Heanor, which describes itself as one of the world’s leading suppliers of vitamins.

When crews arrived at 6.40am they found smoke was coming from the building.

A fire service spokesman said: “There were six pumps there quite quickly and then within the hour it was down to one dealing with smoldering.

“The fire, which in a silo, was out by about 8am.”

He said no-one was injured and firefighters left the scene at 9.30am.
